Who Controls the TV

My husband and I are pretty much into the same shows, but he loves wrestling and I absolutely hate it. I think it's so fake and ridiculous. And sometimes I want to watch Ugly Betty or Desperate Housewives. If he's not home, I get to watch the shows I want, but if he's home, we always watch what he wants. How do you guys handle this?

I control the TV here at home. I buy the movies I want the children to see, and we don't have cable. So it is regular TV and DVD movies for us.

Honestly, we take turns. I often have shows that I have recorded on DVR, and I can only watch them on one TV. Each night, we set a time that my hubby is done and I can watch my shows (usually around 9:00, after dinner is done and kids are asleep) He is fine with it. We often have shows that we both want to watch that are on DVR, also.

What we fight over is who gets to sit in our big comfy chair if we are both watching TV.

We also have the DVR, so we don't have to fight too much over the tv. Neither of us are that into tv anyway. When we watch a movie, he is usually the one to pick it. I had to make a deal with him that he has to give my movies a chance if I ask him to, if I only ask him to watch movies that I think he has a chance of liking. That means no Too Wong Foo.

My husband and I enjoy the same shows which makes for some wonderful conversations. When I am at home and working online I usually have HGTV on and when he gets home we will watch our favorite scif-fi channel shows or talk trash at some of the politicians on the news channels.

My husband and I do not usually fight over the TV because we enjoy the same kind of shows. We are quite fond of reality shows like the Fear Factor and even the Biggest Loser so its fun to watch TV with him actually

My husband and I have such different schedules that we don't often have the chance to sit down together and watch a show at it's scheduled time, so we got TiVo and use that to record the shows we like to see. It works really well for us.
